This site is located close to a busy road on the edge of town. To compensate, the dwelling was designed with minimal window openings facing the roadside to reduce sound transmission, whilst the attached garage was positioned to provide a buffer between the living accommodation and the road. This replacement dwelling took inspiration from the traditional Irish clachan – a collection of seemingly ad-hoc buildings connected and grouped together. The variation in ridge height and massing gives the building a visual interest and unique form.
